The short version: StockPilot doesn't touch real money, doesn't connect to real bank or brokerage accounts, and doesn't sell or share your data. Everything you trade with is virtual. Here's the full picture of what we collect and why.
What we collect
To create an account, we collect an email address and a display name. That's the core of it. Beyond that, what gets stored depends on which parts of StockPilot you use:
Account
Email, display name, and a password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase - we never see or store your raw password).
Virtual trading
Your simulated portfolio: virtual cash balance, virtual positions, and trade history. None of this touches real money or a real brokerage.
Budget tool
Numbers you type in yourself - income, expenses, savings goals. We never connect to a real bank account or pull real financial data.
Classroom
If a teacher adds you to a class: your class membership, quiz scores, assignment completions, and fantasy draft picks, visible to that teacher only.
What we never collect
- Real bank account or brokerage account access
- Payment card or financial account numbers
- Social Security numbers or other government ID numbers
- Your physical address or phone number
- Anything beyond what's needed to run the app
What we never do with your data
- Sell it to advertisers or data brokers
- Show you ads or let advertisers target you
- Share it with anyone outside the infrastructure that runs StockPilot (our database and hosting providers)
- Use it for anything other than running the features you're using
For schools and teachers
When a teacher creates a class in StockPilot Classroom, students join with a class code. Here's what that teacher can and can't see:
- A student's display name and their activity within that specific class - trades, budget submissions, quiz scores, assignment completions, fantasy draft picks
- Aggregate class performance and standings
- A student's email, password, or any account details outside that class
- Activity from any other class the student may be in
- Anything from outside StockPilot
Student data collected through Classroom is used only for the educational purpose it was collected for: tracking coursework and progress within that class. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it. If a school needs a formal data processing agreement for procurement purposes, reach out and we'll work with you on one.
How data is stored
StockPilot's data is stored with Supabase, a hosted database provider, with access controls that scope what each part of the app can read or write. We don't run our own servers storing raw personal data outside of that.
Your choices
You can stop using StockPilot at any time. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us and we'll take care of it.
